Bicycling on the Niagara Frontier is an experience not to be missed. The Niagara River and three bridges connecting Ontario, Canada and New York State allow the cyclist to cycle a variety of routes with tourist attractions. Must-see attractions include: the beautiful Niagara State Park with its “Cave of the Winds” entrance for a walk under the “Bridal Vail” (American Falls). Bicycle around to Goat Island to the walkway to “Three Sisters Island.” From this vantage point you can look over the very edge of the American Falls. Other sites in wonderful Niagara State Park are the Discovery Center and the various on road bicycle and multi-use trails in and just outside the Park itself.
Weaving along the Lake Ontario shore inland to Lockport and its staircase series of three locks on the Erie Canal as well as its tour boats and rental boats, kayaks and canoes.
In addition, Niagara County established a series of wonderful wine routes for bicyclists and motorists, utilizing NYS Department of Transportation highways with 4 foot or more paved and striped from the motor vehicle lane shoulders. (See Other Local Rides, Maps, and Cue Sheets, below.)
